$5.00 each - Show your Bristow pride on your car. Send in $5.00 cash or check for each magnet ordered alongwith your child's name and advisory, your email and phone number. Or, use the Form above.

Shepard Garden

The beautification/Shepard Garden Committee has developed plans for a new garden along the field side of the Shepard House to include plants and shrubs to delight and educate all who enter. Interactive and educational elements to

watch for are a bird feeding station, temperature/weather gauges, a sundial, sculptures, plant and tree identification tags. It is well-known that when the curriculum includes connecting children to the natural world, they learn to

respect and care for their environment.

Thus far, we have a dogwood tree(donated by HomeDepot), a bench (donated by the Bristow PTO) and an arbor. Donations are accepted any time of year and should be sent to the office marked "Bristow PTO-Shepard Garden Fund." Questions and those wishing to volunteer time for either the Shepard Garden or the front planters, please contact Connie Heye, connieheye@att.net, 860-232-2798.

My Coke Rewards

Donate your Coke rewards to the Bristow Middle School PTO. Go to www.mycokerewards.com/schools to enter the codes found on Coca-Cola products, including Powerade and Dasani, and transfer them to the Bristow Middle School account. You can browse the catalog online and see what extras we can get for our school.

Foundation for West Hartford Public Schools

Show your Teacher Appreciation through a gift to the Foundation. Through the Foundation's Spring Gift Program, you can acknowledge and thank a teacher while raising funds that go to West Hartford Teachers in the Mini-Grants Program for enrichment. Every donation through this program goes back to helping teachers provide extra teaching materials/supplies to help teach our children.

In 2009, Bristow art teacher Joyce St. Germaine received a grant in the amount of $1,609 for "Printmaking and Poetry."

In 2010, four different requests were granted to Bristow teachers for the 2010-2011 school year: Sandi Harss and Beth Reilly: Read with Ease MP3s, $900; Sloane Williams: Hartford Stage Residency, $3,000; Ashley Kneidel: Guess Who, $240; Jen Truss and Ellen Nichols: Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food Greenhouse Project, $1,500.
